Gdansk: on the way to Hel

Night before , 29th of May. Cristina got lost somewhere in the Freedom square searching for Kosciuszki. David and Ania decided to remember student life and went to big party in Magic… And in the same moment the plan to wake up at 6am next morning was in our heads.

Next morning, 30th of May. With backpacks, pieses of carton and sleepiness we went to good spot for hitchhiking to Gdansk. It was so cold and we had to cross big highway. In that moment we didn’t want any cars to take us, but just to comeback home in warm beds and sleep more. But after few minutes we finished to make posters with written “Gdansk” and happy smiles on it.

Maybe becasue of the weather and pittiness which drivers felt seen 5 people standing in the middle of the nowhere... But first group of hitchikers (David, Jana and Mathilde) caugth very fast one fancy Mercedes. Cristina and me stayed longer with the hope that we would see Gdansk as well and would not have to come back home. But we were lucky also, and waited just 10 minutes more before STANKO-worker picked us up and brough directly to Jagellonska street in Baltic city. mage.

Our great hosts – Manu, Ornella, Judith, Christina – showed us beauty of Trojmiasto.

We saw Baltic sea and felt as a kids, playing, drawing pictures on the sand...

And huging =)

In the evening Manu and Christina preapred for us romantic trip to Sopot and longest pier “Molo” in Europe…

Next day was full of activities! Morning met us eating vegan breakfast in the park in Gdansk. How can they cook so delicious? The idea was, that one person can buy tickets for 5 zl and take as much food as can from one table. But our team spirit told us decision, how to take everything! So we spited into groups, so each of us took food from different table and then we just shared it=) Even somebody took desert twice! But just because it was amazing good.

After it our way was to discover city center, what we did. Not very successfully in fact, because we got lost a bit and were searching half an hour for Bar Mleczny…

But the main fun was waiting for us in Gdynia! Can you imagine 3 floors house full of EVS-volunteers?

We went there as a guests and meet a lot of friends. Our hosts prepared presents for this party and organize performance “Titanic”! Everybody had their own role – wave, hearts, ship and, of course, couple – Jack and Rose. Here you can see, how talented we are:

After drinking, communication in native languages and cake fighting (walls and carpet were full of nutella!) our Lodzian team left. Actually Mathilde wanted to be a bit out of the team and tried to escape from us. Just in one moment we saw her running from us and hiding behind some yellow box. But we arrived at home, even she was complaining to Jana that she tried very hard to run but she couldn`t.

We had a plan for the next morning as well. But after such party nobody could believe that with our hangover we could stand up. But we were going to Hel and it was perfect place in that moment…

After hour in ferry, enjoying breeze, view of Baltic Sea and smelling salami all over the ship we arrived to peninsula.

If that`s how Hel look, how can paradise look like? This question we asked ourselves and decided to enjoy life more=) We arrive to the empty beach with white sand, took off half of our clothes…

and … fell in sleep!

We were hungry! Please, admit that not just Jana. During eating nothing interesting happened, we enjoyed our soups, frytki and salats, we through dishes and … wait! Because in one moment I saw Cristina putting big piece of sausage in the rubbish bin with written “SZKLO”! We laughed so hard even tears appeared in our eyes. So ,here is little reminder about how we should respect nature.

But moments of this trip will stay with us… in our hearts=)

Finally we said goodbye to this place with little hope to come back again, even though it`s sounds a bit absurd. Who will want to come back to Hel?
